And the Journey Begins With Walnut Saplings!
A very important notice from The Walnut Fund team.
Just recently we purchased the walnut saplings for this year’s plantation!
This definitely marks a major milestone for this year’s plantation, as high-quality saplings are the foundation for a successful and profitable long-term orchard.
What did we buy? As promised, we purchased two-year-old, Certified, first-class walnut saplings from a world-renowned nursery in Turkey. These saplings come with a two-year guarantee, and in case the saplings are not received i.e. “die”, they are replaced by the nursery at their expense with a new plant!
How many did we buy? The total number of walnut saplings for the 2022 plantation stands at 5.147, in other words, we are going to plant 17 hectares this year!
For those of you who don’t follow us on social media, here are a few photos. Apologies for the mediocre quality, but you must understand… We are in the farming business, things are not always so clean. 🙂
Ok, you bought the saplings, where is the land? Procurement of agricultural land in Serbia is a lengthy process. It’s not a simple find-and-purchase operation. Nevertheless, we have made a deposit for this year’s plot and we are in the process of finalizing paperwork with the national cadastre. All the paperwork should be complete by End of August. We will continue to update you regularly on this matter.
When does land preparation begin? Currently, sunflowers are planted on the plot of land that we are purchasing. These sunflowers will be harvested at the beginning of September and that is when we will begin getting the land ready for planting. In parallel, we have begun collecting offers from various contractors for the work that needs to be executed. Furthermore, we have reserved in excess of 700 tons of manure that will augment the quality of the soil prior to planting
A few final words for today. We are happy to say that the project is on track and that with adequate planning and preparation we will keep it that way. The month of August is going to be fun and very busy. Apart from the above-mentioned activities, we plan on organizing our first live investor meet, a webinar for investors worldwide, and look forward to hosting a couple of local news agencies and youtube influencers.
